Sponsored by the Veterans Park Elementary PTA

Thanksgiving Meal:

Family and Friends are cordially invited to attend Thanksgiving Meal with students on Thursday, November 19.  In order to help the cafeteria prepare, we are asking families to RSVP.  Please email your homeroom teacher TODAY with the number of additional meals you will need.  To allow time for all of the guests, the lunch schedule for that day has been changed.  To see the revised schedule click HERE.

November Spirit Project:

Our November SPIRIT project to serve the community is a collection of travel-sized toiletry items.  These items will be donated to local agencies serving veterans, including the VA Hospital and the Hope Center, among several others.  Students may place toiletry items in the blue bin in the front foyer.  This is a great way for VPE to support area veterans!

VPE Fall Book Fair:

Monday through Thursday.  Visit the Book Fair with your child during the Family Dinner.  If you have any questions, please contact Krista Sonka at sonka4@insightbb.com.

Science and History Fairs

Monday through Thursday.  Please stop by to see all of the exhibits during the Family Dinner.  Judges are needed for the Science Fair.  You can come for an hour or two anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.  This is a great volunteer opportunity!  If you would like to help please email Ms. Wilkinson in the science lab at

PTA Meeting:

Thursday, November 19, 6:30 p.m. in the Music Room.  This month’s meeting takes place on the evening of Family Dinner.  We hope some members unable to attend the usual morning meetings will be able to join us.

Market Day:

The deadline to order this month is Tuesday, November 24 at Noon.  Orders can be placed at www.marketday.com.  Congratulations to the winners of the Pie Promotion.  Devin Boone won a $25 gift card to Toy-R-Us for selling 51 pies and Mackenzie Varble won the drawing and she too chose a $25 gift card to Toys-R-Us.

Box Tops for Education:

We’re adding another reason for you to join the Box Tops program.  From now until December 1, newcomers will generate 5 Bonus Box Tops for the school of their choice by signing up for Box Tops online at www.boxtops4education.com.   The 50 schools with the most sign-ups will be entered for a chance to win 5,000 Bonus Box Tops.  If you’re among the top 10 people in recruiting new members, you’ll win $100 in gift cards to be used at the Box Tops Marketplace and even more Bonus Box Tops!  Remember to get friends, neighbors and relatives ANYWHERE to log on and sign up under our school.

Yearbook Pictures:

Parents and teachers can upload pictures to a secure website set up by the yearbook publisher just for VPE.  Go to www.hjeshare.com and upload yearbook pictures directly from your home computer.  Our school code is 1002656.  You can also submit pictures on a CD by sending it in to the office and label it as “yearbook pictures” or by e-mail to jvarble@insightbb.com if you prefer.  When you have uploaded pictures to the site, please e-mail Jennifer Varble at jvarble@insightbb.com that you have done it.   Please indicate whose classroom you took pictures of so that they can be identified correctly for the classroom collage pages.   Even if you didn’t sign up to be a photographer you can still submit any pictures you’ve taken at school.  Upcoming Photo Opportunities:  Red Ribbon Week and field trips.

Volunteer Opportunities:

·       Reading Counts: Mrs. Simpson is in need of help with the new Reading Counts system.  Anyone and any amount of time would be appreciated.  Just stop by the library and she will put you to work.
